HANDLING YOUR TROPHY

HEADS

DO NOT	R	cut the throat, drag, or punch holes in ears.
	R	get it wet, including hanging the carcass and washing it out. Wipe it out.
	R	expose to heat or sunlight for extended period of time.
DO	R	cut from under hide to avoid cutting the hair, peel skin down the neck.

LARGE GAME

DO NOT	R	make cuts past front legs.
	R	salt capes or hides
DO	R	leave hide attached to cape.
	R	use a game bag.
	R	use black pepper in bear cavities to deter flies.
	R	fill cavities with frozen jugs of water.
	R	freeze capes and hides

SMALL GAME, WATERFOWL

DO NOT	R	cut.
	R	soil feathers with blood.
DO	R	keep clean, dry and cool.
	R	plug holes and cavities with tissue.
	R	wrap in paper.
	R	freeze until you can bring it in.

FISH

DO NOT	R	cut, clean or skin it
DO	R	plug mouth with cotton or tissue
	R	wrap entire fish in a wet towel and put it in the freezer.

	YOUR DISPLAY OR MOUNT

DO NOT	R	use a vacuumt
	R	use glass cleaner on eyes
	R	use oil on horns
	R	place mount in damp & dark room
	R	place rug hides in traffic areas - they won't last!
	R	place mounts over fire places or heat ducts
DO	R	paint nose/eye area on large game, feet/bill on birds to restore finish
	R	wipe antlers (not horns) every other year with boiled linseed oil
	R	use feather duster to remove dust
	R	use hair dryer (low setting & power) and toothbrush to groom
	R	wipe with damp cloth
	R	use a clear coat of shellac on fish if they become dull
	R	repair fin or tail cracks with clear nail polish
